Until we get more news on this spooky figure you can view NECA’s post on Instagram and visit their website to see their other blood-soaked figures. There is no release date or pre-order details yet, but it is a safe bet that The Invisible Man will get a ton of accessories and a classic black and white variant. The Invisible Man is going to look right at home with his other monster colleagues. The 2020 version of 'The Invisible Man', directed by Leigh Whannell, introduced a new twist on the classic movie monster, focusing on his abused ex-girlfriend Cecilia (played by Elisabeth Moss) rather than the invisible man himself, Adrian Griffin (played by Oliver Jackson-Cohen). NECA has done an incredible job so far with their Universal Monster line. The body count in this film is extremely high and there are a ton of thrilling sequences for modern genre fans to sink their teeth into.Įven in the classic monster conversation, The Invisible Man does not get enough love, but it is arguably one of the best films Universal ever produced in that era. This man with bandages on his face is a reference to the 1933 film 'The Invisible Man.' Universal Pictures During a trip to the hospital after she faints at a job interview, Cecilia notices a man, his face and body covered entirely in bandages, being wheeled out of a room. This gothic tale was another early horror film, like The Mummy, that could be considered a precursor to the slasher sub-genre. Like in the film, the figure is obsessed with creating a formula to become visible again.Īlso, the effects of the film still hold up to this day and how they pulled off the invisible effect in 1933 is just mind-blowing. The figure is all wrapped in bandages, wearing his goggles, fake nose, and wig to hide his current condition. The other image puts The Invisible Man front and center. On the table we have a textbook, a vial full of formula, goggles, a fake nose, and a wig. The first image presents a table with items that will be very familiar to any rabid Invisible Man junkie. They did not show much, but the two images of their Ultimate Invisible Man will excite any horror fan. The announcement was made on NECA’s Instagram and was the first reveal of their Monster MAYham month. Now NECA has announced that The Invisible Man will be joining the original monster squad very soon. So far they have done Frankenstein, The Wolf Man, Dracula, and The Mummy. Over the last few years the famous toy company has been making some amazing figures based on the Universal Monsters. The original The Invisible Man from 1933 is still a classic and an absolute marvel of its time, but it just doesn’t create the same feeling of constant dread that’s present here.NECA has been one of the premiere companies for high quality figures over the last decade, especially if you are a movie lover and are a fan of the horror genre. It creates severe tension and anxiety right from the start where characters never feel safe and it’s for this level of uneasiness that Whannell’s film takes the top spot. The Invisible Man is fantastic when it comes to the special effects, performances, and the score, but beyond everything else this film is just scary. Whannell takes many liberties with the source material, like making the invisibility be a suit that can be taken on and off at will, rather than a permanent curse. The most effective thing about Whannell’s movie is that it’s really a story about toxic relationships and emotional abuse that gets filtered through the old Invisible Man idea. It may seem trendy to list Leigh Whannell’s most recent take on the Invisible Man as its best adaptation, but the director has truly crafted a powerful, unforgettable piece of horror.
